INTRODUCTION This specification covers the requirements for application of the 4.5-mm STRADA Whisper connector system. The connector system uses a modular concept and interconnects two printed circuit (pc) boards. The connectors are available in a vertical open-end press-fit pin header and right-angle press-fit receptacle. The connectors are connected to the pc board via eye-of-needle (EON) compliant pin press-fit contacts. Typical connector densities are given in Figure 1. When mating, connector alignment features help align contacts prior to engagement of the connectors. The receptacle alignment bosses fit into the pin header alignment slots, which have a guide-in feature. In addition, STRADA Whisper connector guides are available and should be used with the connectors to provide error-free mating and prevent damage to the connector housings and contacts. The female guide module and male guide pin are designed to be installed onto the pc board. These guides are also recommended for multi-connector, large and heavy daughtercard applications, and conditions where the misalignment tolerances cannot be met. Basic terms and features of this product are provided in Figure 1. Product Specification 108-2351 19 AUG 16 Rev H1 IMPACT 100 Ohm Interconnect Systems 1. SCOPE 1.1. Content This specification defines the performance, tests and quality requirements for the TE Connectivity (TE) IMPACT 100 Ohm Interconnect Systems which consists of modular groupings of broad-edge coupled signals with optional integrated guidance. These connectors are two-piece devices, which connect two printed circuit boards (PCBs). The right angle receptacle connectors (daughtercard) and header pin connectors (backplane) are through-hole devices with Eye-of-the-Needle (EON) compliant pin terminals. 1.2. Qualification When tests are performed on the subject product line, procedures specified in Figure 1 shall be used. All inspections shall be performed using the applicable inspection plan and product drawing. Successful qualification testing on the subject product line was completed on 25 Feb 11. The Qualification Test Report number for this testing is 501-743. This documentation is on file at and available from Engineering Practices and Standards (EPS). 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The following documents form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise specified, the latest edition of the document applies. In the event of conflict between the requirements of this specification and the product drawing, the product drawing shall take precedence. INTRODUCTION Removal Kits 2161745-1, 2161752-1, and 2161754-1 are designed to remove STRADA-Whisper receptacles from printed circuit (pc) boards. Refer to Figure 1. Read and understand these instructions before using the removal tools. 2. DESCRIPTION Each kit consists of two clamp subassemblies, a pusher subassembly, a guide module pusher plate, two pusher plate shims, and four pusher plate mounting screws. The clamp subassemblies consist of a front clamp plate, a rear clamp plate, and a clamp knob. The pusher subassembly consists of a top plate, two pusher plates, and a removal knob. The clamp subassembly clamps the receptacle while the pusher subassembly removes the receptacle from the pc board. The guide module pusher plate is used when the receptacle is adjacent to a guide module, and the © 2014 TE Connectivity family of companies All Rights Reserved *Trademark pusher plate shims are used depending on the width of the receptacle. 3. OPERATION 3.1. Tool Preparation To prepare the removal tool, know the dimension of the receptacle (number of rows and columns) and the placement of the receptacle (what is next to the receptacle). Once these conditions are determined, the tool can be prepared to remove the receptacle. To prepare the tool: 1. Select the kit part number to be used based on the receptacle part number or size. 2. Select the proper clamp subassembly for the receptacle part number or size. 3. Determine if shims are necessary and install as needed. See Figure 2 for shim placement. INTRODUCTION This specification covers the requirements for application of stacked zSFP+ Connector and Cage Assemblies to interconnect SFP+ and SFP fiber optic or copper transceiver modules to printed circuit (pc) boards. The zSFP+ Connector and Cage Assembly is a pre-assembled unit available in a 2x1, 2x2, 2x4, 2x6, or 2x8 configurations. zSFP+ Connector and Cage Assemblies are also available with light pipes. The cage assembly features compliant pin contacts for mechanical retention to the pc board and to provide electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression, thermal vent holes, and panel ground features to provide electrical contact to the bezel. In addition, the cage assembly has a locking latch and a kick-out spring for each mating module. The locking latch holds the module in place, and the kick-out spring releases the module for removal. An EMI/Dust Plug (for each port) is used when the module is not mated to the cage assembly to prevent contaminants from entering the chassis and assist with EMI containment. The zSFP+ Connector and Cage Assembly is designed to be inserted into a bezel after being seated onto the pc board. The connector consists of a housing with dual 20-position receptacle ports and compliant pin contacts on 0.8 mm centerline spacing. The housing features alignment posts that provide stability for placement on the pc board. Each receptacle port has a card entry slot that accepts a 1.0+0.1 mm thick integrated circuit card housed in the mating module. When corresponding with TE Connectivity Personnel, use the terminology provided in this specification to facilitate your inquiries for information. Basic terms and features of this product are provided in Figure 1.
